Tri-Cities Coverage Map

In Tennessee and Virginia the name "Tri-Cities" refers to the region comprising the cities of Kingsport, Johnson City and Bristol, as well as the surrounding smaller towns and communities in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. All three of the principal cities are located in the extreme northeastern corner of Tennessee, while Bristol has a twin city of the same name on the Virginia side. Now a Comined Statistical Area (CSA), a 2008 census estimate placed the Tri-Cities population at 500,538. Awarded the All-America City Award--a designation which only 10 cities per year receive--the Tri-Cities boast being "The Birthplace of Country Music" and Home of the Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol); Forbes Magazine's #35 "Best Small Place for Business and Careers" (Johnson city); and "The Model City", due to aesthetic and functional design (Kingsport).
